Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic Arthritis is a disease that related with psoriasis. It is infection of the skin (psoriasis) and joints (arthritis). It usually affecting fingers and toes. About 10 percent of people affects with psoriasis. Dry, red patches, scales which affect elbows, knees, scalp, arms, joints. Psoriatic arthritis is only occur if you have psoriasis, although if you have psoriasis, it doesn't mean that you will easily get psoriatic arthritis.

Types of psoriatic arthritis :- Psoriatic arthritis divides into five types: Symmetric, Asymmetric arthritis, distal interphalangeal predominant (DIP), Spondylitis and arthritis mutilans.

Symmetric arthritis :- Symmetric arthritis is common type of Psoriatic Arthritis. It occurs in the same joints on both sides of the body. 50 percent of people suffer with this disease.

Asymmetric arthritis :- This is the another type of psoriatic arthritis. Asymmetric arthritis means it's symptoms occur on only one side of the body. It can affect any joint, few finger, knee, hip, ankle or wrist,few finger.

Spondylitis :- Spondylitis is a disease of a backbone joint. You will have face the back pain, stiffness of the neck, lower back problems. Its symptoms also present in the hands, arms, hips, legs and feet.

Distal interphalangeal predominant (DIP) arthritis :- This is not a uncommon type it usually occurs in the joints nearest to your fingernails and toenails.5 to 10 percent people affect with this disease.

Arthritis mutilans :- Arthritis mutilans is a severe. It affects the small joints of the hands and feet and changes the shape of your fingers and toes. 5 percent of people affect with arthritis mutilans.

Symptoms:-

  1. Joint pain and stiffness
  2. Redness and swelling around the joints
  3. One or more entire fingers or toes swelling up
  4. Lower back, neck and upper back pain or infection of the spine
